Hieroglyphs


Hieroglyphs on the frontage of the temple of Ramesses II. By granting its invention to the Thot god, the Egyptians translate the miracle of a development extremely fast: perfectly set up from the start, this writing will not undergo notable modification until its final abandonment in the first centuries of our era. Only the number of signs passes, during millenia, from 700 approximately to nearly 5000.
