Temple of Horus


The temple of Horus, at Edfu, is the best preserved of Egypt. Its construction began under Ptolemy III, in 237 before Christ, and was completed under Ptolemy XII in 57 before Christ. It was thus necessary nearly two centuries to build the house of Horus, the guard of the royalty and the " lord of the sky ", an avatar of the god of the sun. The great pylon preserved its dimensions of origin and measures 36 m in height on 80 m broad.
