Offerings
Offerings to a divinity on a wall of the first terrace of
the temple of Hatchepsut. For the former Egyptians, the human being consists of
three major elements which are dispersed at the time of death. The body
is regarded as a material support. The ba, represented by a bird with
human head, is a spiritual component that they indicate sometimes under
the name of soul. The ka, that they often translate by " double ",
represents the vital energy, it is it which allows the subsistence in
beyond and it is thus to it that address the funerary offerings. The life is the
union of the three principles, death corresponds to their dissociation. The
purpose of the momification is to gather them again.
